Western Marxists approach Marxism from a place of moral imperative, not material conditions because our material conditions, while not great compared to the 1%, are vastly superior to those of people in the global south. I don't think it has much, if anything, to do with Christianity. Also, accusations of "centrally planned capitalism" against China are coming as much from Chinese youth as they are from western Marxists.
