The measure was written by Rep. Quang Nguyen, R-Prescott Valley, who told the Senate Education Committee of his own family’s experience escaping Vietnam as communists took over after the war there.

I know you're doing a fun bit but I just want to point out that they didn't. They liberated Cambodia from the Khmer Rouge.

The Vietnamese saved my aunt's life, and there are many members of her family that I will never meet because they died. The Vietnamese soldiers were running out of food during the invasion because they were giving their rations to the local people. Eternal respect to them.

Let's just ignore that under capitalism the means of production are controlled by dictators rather than democracies and that anyone who exercises their "freedom" to refuse to serve under a dictator will either be sentenced to death by homelessness and starvation or will be imprisoned for the crime of being homeless and used as a slave in a for-profit prison.

my first big proto-leftist revelation was "wait if we live in a 'democracy' but are under a totalitarian dictatorship for 8-10 hrs a day that also extends into our personal life then aren't we just living in a dictatorship?"

The best AFL-CIO meme was a campaign around "democracy at work ". I think everyone intuitively knows that all workplace related affairs are dangerously undemocratic.

listen, communism conflicts with our god-given democracy. We will also continue to teach that lobbying and corporate manipulation are natural functions of democratic politics and are good, actually :so-true:

The actual way it is taught is "lobbying SEEMS like corruption but actually good things can be lobbied for as well!" which ignores the fact that the bad lobbies have far more money.

Flattering aristocrats so the aristocrats will bestow favors is totally not feudalistic bullshit. :bootlicker:

Halim Alrah's videos are top tier for explaining concepts to radlibs. They're works of art as far as agitprop goes.

It's a democracy when :maybe-later-kiddo: wants to say neoliberal oligarchies are good, and it's a constitutional republic when :grillman: wants to stick it to the Democrats.
