Everyone speaks English, Reddit is primarily part of the English speaking internet, and Ukrainians are trying to drum up as much support for their cause as possible.
I'm sure they have Ukrainian forums where they speak Ukrainian.
I know more people learn English than vice-versa because imperialism, but I seriously doubt the plurality of people on the Ukrainian subreddit right now are actually native Ukrainian. Especially after the conflict flared up and there was an international outcry. But even looking through Web Archive back before Euromaidan happened in 2014, the subreddit was full of threads like "can anyone translate this ukrainian for me?" and "me and my girlfriend are visiting odessa." i.e. not natives.
The main country subs are almost always Americans in America. Countries normally have another set of subs for immigrants who actually live there. Natives don’t browse Reddit since it’s only really popular in America.
