Feeling reflective: How did everyone like the discord? https://hexbear.net/post/1872

Was this just a ploy to get the most downvoted post on the lemmy? No actually, but it's sure looking like that's where it's headed

For sure, especially for our neurodiverse comrades, even in the slower chats the interwoven conversations were a headache to say the least.

The discord was too full, posts would just fly by

couldn't understand how people thought the sub could be dropped into discord. I hate chat rooms outside limited applications and fuck discord's corporate policies.

never went near it. sounds like there was a lot of drama.

The plan was never to recreate the subreddit, but to provide an alternative until the lemmy. Now that its here, I'm sure the discord will keep evolving now that it's no longer the chapo survival ark

And yeah there was drama, but there always is when there are people who like kicking up shit

I'm bitter because I type slow and think slow lol. But still, fuck discord. Matrix though, now there's something.

it's a company which assimilates video games and open source communities which ends up basically forcing you to join their website and play by their rules if you want to interact with said communities in any meaningful way. their rules are bullshit and inconsistent and all the mods are endlessly corrupt. so nothing new

Been there comrade, I'm glad you're adjusting well though! Hit me up if you ever need anything, and also be on the lookout for the neurodivergent community here when it gets made!

If by use you mean lurk in the meme channel and expropriate memes to post in my irl friends group chat then yes, I used the discord.

Same, that was the only channel I was in, and that was only to try and lend what help I could to getting this up and running. Going to any other channel and trying to start a conversation just felt like interrupting to me.

The higher frequency chat and higher difficulty in following threads in that chat make it far more difficult to participate sporadically. I usually hae multiple things going on and participate more during down time between furious bursts of activity in RL.

I lurked the shit outta the discord, mostly in the twitter screenshot channel to try to replicate that r/cth experience

Hell yeah, I always tried to look out for the lurkers' user experience
