I know, it's terrifying. I used to go fuck around in the woods lighting stuff on fire and be out from morning to sunset and these days it seems like the police and child protective services would be on you in moments. There's absolutely no reason a 10 year old can't be left pretty much entirely unsupervised all day. More so, because now you can give that ten year old a phone so you can actually get in touch with them if you need to. Hell, you can set up GPS tracking on their phone for real-time position tracking.
