If the Russians didn't expect a mad dash toward nato to result from their invasion then they are even dumber than I thought.

Still a super stupid plan. No one in their right mind is going to do a land invasion of the RF and this just guarantees/accelerates missile placement on their borders. I am not someone to say russias concerns about nato are all pretext, but this invasion is stupid on every level conceivable. And from an anti-imperialist perspective is a complete and utter disaster as it is effectively giving a new life to nato and is probably pushing dollar dominance another 20 years into the future.

Sweden and Finland are bound to join NATO. Russia will piss and moan about it but it was a sure outcome of invading Ukraine.
