I'm a big fan of Moore and a writer, so I'd really love to watch. But, because I'm currently between jobs and because I'm a trans woman, I don't really want to give the BBC $90. Plus, knowing Moore's personal stances, I don't think he'd mind me not paying given these reasons.

So does anyone know of a place where I could stream the episodes or does anyone have personal downloads of them? Thanks.

Brandon Sanderson BYU lectures. He’s an excellent teacher that will recontextualize many of the givens you didn’t quite get in writing class

Do not support anything put out by BYU. They are under federal investigation for discrimination against LGBTQ+ students. Their honor code says that students cannot express homosexuality in any way or dress in a way that doesn’t match their assigned gender.

They also investigated numerous women and queer students for submitting Title IX complaints. Often expelling victims for being what they viewed as too complicit.

I believe they are on his own page, and filmed by his own team, not put out by the school. Don’t know if byu gets kickbacks from his YouTube page, but I frankly doubt it. For what it’s worth, the content is refreshingly open about the difficulties of dealing with minority representation in fiction, and he (to my memory) always advises having actual discussions with members of whatever minority group well before you start planning it.

BYU is undoubtedly shit, but his filmed lectures there present an actual college course, and not his usual quick vids. It’s solely for the purposes of finding the specific playlist.

He launders their image by teaching and holding writing camps there. I mean it probably doesn’t really matter if you watch those vids as long as you understand what that institution is about. I guess I’m just suspicious of a guy who writes about heroes risking their lives to stand up for what’s right when he isn’t willing to so much as write a letter to stand up for women and queer people in his community.

He also has a writing podcast called Writing Excuses thats just a 15 or 20 minute topic of the week with guests. Cory Doctorow was on awhile ago. Had a throwaway line about marxists authors that made me chuckle.

See if your community has a local community writing center. You can usually meet with a tutor for free, and they often have free writing courses. These tend to be attached to libraries, and research shows they are more helpful than MOOCs (massive open online courses). MOOCs are more popular because they have famous names attached, but teaching is about putting in labor to help your students and give them feedback not being the smartest person.
