There are many kinds of nasty nutritional disorders that will show themselves in long hair. Brittle, patches of hair falling out, etc. Cutting the hair short gets interpreted by the lizard hindbrain as trying to hide something. It's why we think long silky hair is attractive, on both men and women, because it demonstrates good health.
my favorite one is "No overly religious" because it pretty much rules out anyone left who had met all the previous "qualifications"
