I don't know that I put enough stock in what Trump says to be convinced that he's been briefed on anything seriously conspiratorial. He does pull shit out of his ass like this all the damn time. Nor that China would be particularly benefited by actively interfering when they can just sit back while the US falls apart on its own.

China will want to sow as much doubt in Trump and America as possible, it’s an obvious geopolitical and Maoist ideological goal here, and we have plenty of reason to believe they’re doing so.
I’d expect escalation, covert cyber-war, almost certainly blackouts in California, sabotage and subversion all over the country, and legitimate internationalist support if Western leftists organize and rapidly transform themselves over the next few months, and that looks like what is happening already.
