    because it’s in my pocket?

inputting your password is a stronger barrier than taking it out of your pocket though

i really dont understand whats so difficult to get about this. it takes more time and effort to enter a password than it does to remove your phone from your pocket.

let's take it back to the beginning, because Mao tells us to do things thoroughly.

I want to check the time:

I have a cheap watch = I see the time and I go about my day

I use my phone = I see the time and oh, a notification, or, hmm I wonder if something is happening on hexbear, let's check since the phone is already in my hand (I use fingerprint so it's easy for me)

That is my experience, I can see that yours might be different and that's fine.

i've got my lockscreen code in the muscle memory (also my phone has a fingerprint reader so it's even faster), whereas pulling out the phone is hard because i've got big hands and they get stuck in my pockets lol

im going to quote the part where i advised against this

password protect your phone, you arent required to give cops a password (unlike biometrics)

it was based on this premise (that you are being smart with your security by not using biometrics) that i said it is more difficult to unlock your phone than to pull it out of your pocket
