Well yes, the UK is an elective dictatorship. Parliament is not bound by previous parliaments, it is dominated by the government of the day, it can pass any bill it chooses, and it can ram a bill through the Lords without veto on the third try. It’s a will of the government, not the people.

UK citizens should stop acting surprised when the government of the day yet again acts in its own interest - it is by design. Liberals here simply refuse to reconcile that reality with the fantasy of democracy they’ve built up in their minds, as they cannot admit their system is incompatible with the people’s will.

On the flip side, it does mean that an opposition can undo everything previous governments have done, however when both major parties serve the interests of capital and have a revolving door to ‘private business consultancy’ it’s clear that it’s just a facade.

Bonus: Starmer is somehow even worse than the current government: http://library.lol/main/E2CC954A1E9E7305FD71FF6ECB5A491F

Except that queen has a veto, so a hypothetial leftist government wouldn't be able to do anything. Of course, there is a way :gui:

What is the elections bill doing with the "rewriting election law in his favor?" Is that in reference to making mayoral and PCC elections first past the post?
