EID MUBARAK. we did it Ummah pogchamps, a whole month of fasting down once again. I hope it was easy for you
Eid al-Fitr is one of the major holidays in Islam, and marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, where Muslims the world over fast from sunrise to sunset in order to build humility, empathy, and faith with those around them and the world at large who suffer from going without all year round. it is a day of prayers, community, and a lot of really great sweets.
Eid al-Fitr is marked by the sighting of the new moon, as Islam follows a lunar calendar. because of this Eid al-Fitr not only changes dates through the Gregorian year but also can be different between different countries where some sight the moon, and others do not.

hope all my comrades had a nice may day. I had a great day out, met loads of cool people, had some dumb debates, got like 15 trotskyist newspapers. always nice to meet people who care to change the world for the better along side you, and respect your ideas even in our differences

I think these guys were different groups from some previous split. there were so fucking many trot groups there it's hard to tell

it's funny until you hear about the 12 rape crises and assault callouts that were covered up by leadership. that shit happens a lot

:mao-wtf: how are they this broken?
Aren't trots usually swerfs too?
the left is very insular and under attack so people feel a need to defend against anything that makes them look bad. because politics is passionate and personal you get close to comrades a lot, and relationships sexual romantic and platonic come out of this. then you throw in how young a lot of people are in many orgs and how this stuff happens in people's social circles too. and boom, you now have a lot of people who know the accused, have a deep reason to want to cover shit up, and a prime ground for it to happen in in the first place.
it's not just trots to be clear, but they are much bigger in the english speaking left world of activism, so when you hear about it you hear about trot orgs being where this happens
I've been to more than one org where the first thing they say when inducting new people is "DO NOT USE THIS ORG AS A DATING SERVICE".
I've met a few exes via activism. if it's a lot of what you do in your free time and you see the same people all the time, feelings develop. even if it's made taboo, or outright banned, it's gonna happen. humans are social and not good at turning that off. the best thing to do is to have ways to deal with it rather than go full jedi order
No lies detected.
I appreciate the insight. It sucks that it seems like we're not living up to the feminism we aspire to. :trans-sad:
Like father like son
Tbh I have liked a lot of what I have read from :chad-trotsky: tho so lol
♌n is imo not an interesting figure at all. Just a minority opposition within the party, got purged. Wrote some stuff that was up for consideration in his time, but didn't hold weight after his death.
Western Marxists just like a martyr.
It's interesting how he was a pretty good general in the Bolshevik army
Oh yeah he played a major part in crushing anarchist Ukraine, big ups to boss man for that one
Trotsky lead the red army of workers and peasants to victory over imperialism, tsarism, and counter revolution. to call him a groomer or w/e is kinda crass when there's nothing I've ever read about that. his later split with stalin lead to some weird takes, but he was a Bolshevik and one of the closest people to Lenin
I've met so many Trots that are just... spreaders of misery. What's up with that?
They will attend a simple event with a fun activity intended to bring libs into a socialist space and start dictating how it's supposed to be run, pick fights over theory, and not-so-subtly start talking shit about others' decisions to not do what they want (and can others "sectarian" lol).
And overall, most of them seem stressed out most of the time.
Is this a symptom of them all thinking they'll need to be the next Lenin or something, so they take themselves seriously all the time? Or have I just been unlucky with the Trots I've run into?
Edit: oh and they're constantly talking shit about each other too lol wtf
you have just entirely hit the nail on the head. trots are exhausting. I'm about as far from an anarchist as they get, but I am happy to work with them because they're chill and know when to turn the fuck off. trots are like career activists and so toxic in a lot of it
Same! I'm a commie but would much rather work with 90% of anarchists I know than 90% of Trots I know. I swear half the time I can hear the wheels turning in their head about how they're going to tell their buddies about the third worldist thing I said or something lol.
The most recent interaction I had was pretty funny, with a Trot saying that the best strategy to recruit libs was to cynically cite Bernie and his talking points and catchphrases. And not only that, they said anyone who wasn't on board with that was an ultra.
At least they're accidentally funny?
I think at least part of it has to do with the whole ideological purity thing. When that's your main concern, things can get very "no true scotsman" very quickly. Especially since different people will naturally have a different picture of what "true" Marxism/communism is
