    Inflation: 12%

    Wage growth: 1.2%

Median net profit increase in 2022: 49%

Clearly the wage growth is the problem.

I like how they plot the graphs in a way that they look like a 1-1 match, even though the wage graph is quarter over quarter instead of annual, and the y-axis is 10 times smaller.

yep this is why they keep drilling "wage driven inflation" as if companies have to create currency from thin air just to pay more instead of taking it from profits. but what's fucked is in a way it may be true. government creates money, shovels it towards corporations, who are then forced to divert a tiny pittance to the workers. if profits are harmed in the slightest, corporations beg the government for more money, which it poofs into existance. the system eats itself, i live in hell.

I mean that's the thing though profits aren't harmed in the slighted. They're at all time highs.

I mean they can look up profit margins, costs, and revenues over time easily. Here's Exxons . You can see their input costs went up but so did their actual profit margin.

Ok seriously what the fuck is the plan when most people can’t afford to buy anything anymore?

Is that batshit insane proposal to have the market and stonks be automated by AI with no one interacting with it just gonna happen?

More and more debt peonage. Company towns. More means tested relief that requires you to submit to increasingly humiliating forms of abasement. Riots. Concentration camps. Mass executions.

That, or we start another big war and ship all the young people off to it before they can start too much trouble.

I'd say that seems likely, but it doesn't seem like even young people are going to bother causing much trouble en masse.

I heard someone say "companies are giving away all this money to unskilled workers" the other day. I just repeated "prison is not fun" over and over in my head until the urge to force her nose through the back of her skull abated.

cooling wage growth for what end though, you rich folks can just press the less inflation button whenever you want, same as the less pay button
