Armed and organized community defense is a historically effective tactic. The Black Panthers did it, Maoist groups in the Philippines and India do it, hell a non communist example is like every right wing group in America.

The main force of an organized and armed militia isn't to have shootouts with cops, it's to make the cops think twice about going somewhere and make reactionary adventurists afraid to do adventurism.
