Just my personal take, but I believe we've reached an era in the surveillance state where literally every bit of information that goes through any means of digital communication is analyzed by an algorithm and evaluated for potential threats. Kumbaya gatherings and adventurism are all that's left. I think there might be some actual cool and good very small group that tried to target that NSA data center in Nashville, but either that was a test run to determine what the response would be or a failure that either forced them to ground or resulted in them getting black bagged.

Going after critical infrastructure is a great way to get a sniper bullet in your skull.

If you're serious about ending capitalism that's almost guaranteed to be your fate. If you're really serious about ending capitalism and act on it in the US, that will 100% be your fate. Your choices are; eat shit, do an adventurism, or do kumbaya shit, and those last two taste a lot like shit and have a similar outcome.

If it’s hopeless, why are we even here then? I could be reading light novels or something right now.

As someone who works surrounded by complacent boomers… solidarity.
