I picked up the hobby over the pandemic, and I was curious to see what other people think of it. Is it an over pretentious method when compared to traditional fishing methods, or do you feel that it offer a unique way to target fish. Obliviously the same moral issues for traditional fishing occur, such as stressing fish or unintended fish deaths (even when practicing catch and release).
Fishing good, idk enough about fly fishing specifically but going fishing every year helps me and my family put more food on the table. It's a lot of fun and can be both very relaxing and chaotic as hell, so every trip there's something new.
My personal favorite way to fish is handlining, no rod, just you and the line. Every now and then whales come up to say hi (the only fish big enough to handline here are in the ocean) and I'm always fascinated by them. Hauled up a rock with like 10 little crabs on it once n they really do rave :hexcrab-party:
I think whatever method that motivates you to fish is a good fishing method.
