Definitely, the prequels were for the most part a great idea plagued by just absolutely awful execution. If Lucas had people to put a check on his worst excesses we could have had some great movies.
yeah one thing they did right was subtlety build up to the death stars of the originals instead of "wow did you know there were 3 smaller death stars before a new hope?"
Prequels are actually kinda good in this regard, being basically about liberalism decaying into fascism.
