Got one of those "we want you to buy reddit stock because you reddited really hard!" emails... on an account I haven't used for six years. When I did use it, I used it almost exclusively on a niche subreddit, too.
They're scraping the bottom of the barrel already
This is in the dunk tank to dunk on me for once using reddit
I do not understand anyone who still uses reddit.
Niche communities? CookieClicker, pointandclick, AskHistorians, Catswhoyell, noodlebones, CatsStandingUp, longcats, etc.
Yeah, I used to post pretty annoyingly on a couple romance novel and queer subs, but reddit is so bad and the userbase is so poisonous that I ended up concluding, I'll Just Simply Go Without
I miss my stupid fucking book subs ffffuckThere are a lot of specific media subs (i.e stuff like Noita or Pathfinder) that don't have an active fediverse equivalent, too.
Sports discussion on Reddit is slightly more tolerable than twitter, news site comments sections, and dedicated forums.
Sportsball people long onto forums just to be annoying?
Mainly to discuss transfers, match highlights and whatever drama is going on. The fact that Reddit is the best platform for it, tells you how bleak all the other options are.
You do get some good comments/posts on sports subs; actual attempts at analysis or in-depth breakdowns of individual players. Even some all-timer shitposts.
But any gameday thread is an unending stream of sky-is-falling doomerism unless your team is up by 100, the general discussion about individual teams got more negative and hysterical each passing year, and mediocre memes were increasingly crowding out the shrinking good parts.
Just no vision from the site/mods about trying to encourage high-quality contributions and discourage annoying or grating stuff.
