Mark Twain didn't like Jerusalem, so Jerusalem isn't important to Muslims. Can anyone actually follow the the logic here?
Also, does Israel simply not teach the history of the region they're living in? You'd imagine that they'd know about why Saladin was so adamant about conquering Jerusalem and why he was so generous during the war in order to not damage the city. I thought that Israel would teach about Saladin since he allowed Jewish people to resettle the city after his conquest, but now I see that any history before Zionism isn't really taught. Even the history of local Jews living peacefully living in the region for thousands of years in harmony with their neighbors is a danger to the Zionist project.
He might have let Jewish people resettle, but he was an Arab Muslim, and they can't be having ideas about Jews and Arab Muslims living together peacefully in their theocratic ethnostate.
