They are both quite amazingly put together. Movie 2 in particular is one of the most "cinematic" things to have come out of anime. So much so that it changed the approach towards screen composition and layouts in japanese animation ever since

The first movie is a lot more fun. The second feels like a two hour MGS scene (not that it's a bad thing).
