I am glad I am not on twitter, if this is the current discourse. I just remember heated discourse a few years ago about "will there be restaurants in Communism?" that even spawned a Jacobin article. All I can say is that "Time is a flat circle, everything we have done, we will do again".
A few years ago? Comrade it has been a day. This week is a full decade.
Left twitter is a bunch of people looking at all the polcomp meme about leftist infighting and thinking "we should act like that unironically"
I'm gonna go to New York just so that I can be insufferable about bodegas
twitter leftists are proof that chauvinism rots your fucking brain out
The one in the middle is kinda right, at least for (some) boomers, but not because of the cars thing. It's cause of big pensions, and early access to property (real-estate) as a vehicle for financial security.
Edit: or really manly just the real estate, I suppose.
I was just thinking today that I'm not making much less than my dad doing the same line of work but he had a few acres of land sorta gifted to him, I have not had that luxury.
Artie, jeez, it was a long time ago man, I didn't mean nothin by it
Under socialism, everyone will forage for berries in loin cloths and work in the coal mines
The restaurant discourse is a mis-communication. The anti-restaurant people are against the dynamic of serving in order to survive, the power dynamic where working-class cooks and servers serve middle class consumers, the terrible working conditions that are universal to restaurants.
The pro-restaurant people are saying they want to have buildings they go to where they cook for their community.
This is a disagreement on what the word "restaurant" means, not on what kind of future we want.
