Edit to clarify: of course we should be 100% for LGBT+ rights. The whole world should be. But instead of allowing the developing world to find their own footing on socially progressive issues, why should us in the developed West dictate how they should approach the issue, and withdraw support of their anti-imperialist stance just because they just weren’t as progressive as us in certain social issues, not withstanding the fact that the much wealthier, much more developed, much “superior” West - and the ones doing the exploitation - weren’t that keen on LGBT+ rights just 30 years ago?
How is sneering down on savage barbarians for not being “progressive” as we loot and destroy these targets of imperialism not Social Imperialism?
You can make this argument about Iran, Syria, Libya, Iraq. Should they all be destroyed and looted because they have some reactionary social views?
