“Treehouse of Horror” episodes were some of the best the Simpsons had and I think it was because it gave the writers freedom to explore all kinds of settings and ideas.

Yeah this is why Family Guy is such a weird and terrible show. They are never fettered by any limitations, their earliest episodes are about the family surviving a nuclear apocalypse, meeting the pope, and fighting a giant sentient chicken. Yet instead they choose to go with the lamest boomer shit imaginable.

And horrible bigotry.
