Fascist gunman Brenton Tarrant spent his formative years in Australia and had connections to extreme-right movements that were promoted by its political establishment.
Are you serious? The ALP reopened Manus and Nauru in 2012 https://www.theguardian.com/world/2012/aug/13/australia-asylum-seekers-pacific-islands
“As of today, asylum seekers who come here by boat without a visa will never be settled in Australia''.
If that isn’t anti-immigrant rhetoric, I don’t know what is. https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal/kevin-rudd-to-send-asylum-seekers-who-arrive-by-boat-to-papua-new-guinea-20130719-2q9fa.html
The ALP have been more than willing to go along with the “boat people” crap, and that’s just recent history. If you want to go back to their formative years and how they were into White Australia as much as anyone, we can. https://jacobinmag.com/2020/03/australian-labor-party-alp-white-australia-policy-bill-shorten/
Yes, I am seriously asking for a citation, because I do not know and would like to learn. I did try looking it up but couldn't immediately find anything useful.
That's a fair call, but the fact that Labor have one two elections in the last 3 decades makes their current strategy of 'Liberal party, but slightly less evil' pretty fucking useless. Honestly, the media might hate a change, but a coalition with the greens and pushing hard left as a hard workers party might make a difference.

Haha, fair. I’m too used to arguing with ALP hacks on Facebook 😆
Anyway, yeah, thanks for posting. Now I know.
This. I have to remind family and friends, normally smart people, that Labor have been historically just as bad when it comes to race as the Libs.
Here in Australia we have right and slightly less right.
The classic “workers party arguing for a more equal share of the spoils of empire”
