Maybe if I become a fascist, I can trick a fascist into liking a redistributive policy while their politics remain otherwise unchanged. Maybe they won't immediately think I'm a socialist of some kind and kill me. I can say "but I'm just as patriotic as you" and show them my American flag hammer and sickle if they even try.
