How creatively bankrupt you are that you think that present cinema is "cynical"? Come and See would be a memetic kill agent to these people.

    least cynical

It's literally a military recruitment tool

It's so cynical that the cynicism doesn't even show up on his radar. The ideology is that pure. :zizek:

I've known people like that in real life. One of the most absurd arguments I ever had was with a peer that claimed that the 80s G.I. Joe cartoons had no politics in them at all, comparing them favorably to what he called modern SJW entertainment that he said has narratives and agendas and so on and so on :zizek-fuck: . Yes, he even tried the trump card "did you ever hear... the curtains were fucking blue?" :very-intelligent:

This is even funnier from this obviously true angle, the original film was a recruitment ad for the navy air force. The current film is an ad for the regular air force or at least that's how they're acting lol.

I don't like self-aggrandizing pop-nihilistic smarmy snark, but I also despise shallow empty flag-humping shlock. Fuck me, right? :shrug-outta-hecks:

Ive litteraly used the trailer of top gun in one of my classes to discuss modern propaganda and this dipshit is a perfect example of how it absolutely, definitly, works. That people think there is no such thing as propaganda i' western media only shows how effective it is.

Also I've seen a lot of questions about what enemy the pilots are fighting at the end of the film. The answer is obviously Wakanda.

This shit had like 8+ on imdb (yeah I know), and people were just mass downvoting any reviews that were even slightly critical or not 10/10s. The general moviegoing audience really is this cucked by capital and the resulting movie industry

The slop is tested with an HPLC to ensure it's 100% insipid, else their tummies might act up

famously uncynical to be a sabre rattling flick literally funded by the US military

with a population this credulous the most surprising part is they even bother with the effort

I mean I kind of get what they’re saying. Top Gun is jingoistic propaganda schlock but at least it takes its own premise seriously. It reminds me of how Dune was so refreshing to a lot of people because there were barely any “self aware” Marvel quips, it just played itself completely straight
