Warthunder gets a lot of press for leaking tank specs, but every few years there's some trouble after someone either leaks classified info to DCS world or MS flight sim modders or scans and uploads flight manuals that are illegal for export.

I wonder if any countries have gathered information about NATO equipment by playing Project Reality/Squad or ARMA and just asking/debating players who've used that shit IRL.

Probably. There is a lot of stuff that is classified for bureaucratic reasons that isn't very carefully guarded. Fairly often I find myself trying to find sources for stuff I know about US military equipment and find that a lot of the information I got just from knowing people interested in that kinda stuff is technically classified, and therefore impossible to find a "reputable" source for.

A lot of stuff that is secret you can find on the internet fairly easily. Like debug codes for some equipment. Nothing actually important or interesting, but it's funny to think it's technically illegal knowledge and it shows up on the first page of Google if you type in the right search terms.
