rip Chinese soldier :xi-gun:
Warthunder gets a lot of press for leaking tank specs, but every few years there's some trouble after someone either leaks classified info to DCS world or MS flight sim modders or scans and uploads flight manuals that are illegal for export.
I wonder if any countries have gathered information about NATO equipment by playing Project Reality/Squad or ARMA and just asking/debating players who've used that shit IRL.
Probably. There is a lot of stuff that is classified for bureaucratic reasons that isn't very carefully guarded. Fairly often I find myself trying to find sources for stuff I know about US military equipment and find that a lot of the information I got just from knowing people interested in that kinda stuff is technically classified, and therefore impossible to find a "reputable" source for.
A lot of stuff that is secret you can find on the internet fairly easily. Like debug codes for some equipment. Nothing actually important or interesting, but it's funny to think it's technically illegal knowledge and it shows up on the first page of Google if you type in the right search terms.
:sicko-wholesome: maybe we have more in common than we have differences
If it's anything like the last two times, someone in the military plays WT, and wanted to prove a point about a tank's capability.
It's especially funny when dataminers manage to find that the reason why certain equipment works the way it does in game is just because of a typo in a config file somewhere, and these gamers have been arguing about the relative capabilities of some countries armor or shot or something for months.
Tank nerds can not stop nuking their entire careers just to dunk on someone on a video game forum. Incredible.
What the fuck is wrong with these soldiers? They play a videogame and get incredibly upset about the fact that their country's weaponry isn't accurate based on best guesses of the developer so they leak official fucking secrets hoping to make the weapons more powerful in-game?
Fucking idiots.
Chinese military secrets
holy shit China has tanks we're fucked
:fedposting: Military spies in the year 2030 pissing off nerds on War Thunder forums to get classified secrets
the details of the anti-tank weapon in question were previously known,
DTC10-125, an anti-tank round fielded by the modern-day Chinese military. Also known as a kinetic energy penetrator,...
SO, its their version of the depleted uranium anti-tank rounds and the SABOT casing that the US military uses. Doesn't sound like anything earth shattering.
specifications of the DTC10-125 were previously revealed online in multiple locations,
French Leclerc main battle
hehe... Le Clerc. I like the image that reading that makes in my head.
