I'm not a punk aficionado so, I'm definitely talking out of my ass here.

But there's the punk rock that has the asthetic and their songs are about something. Then there's the punk rock that is just edgelordism in music form right?

Dada was pretty much saying, "shitting on a canvas" is nor more/less art than some fancy reniassance painting that is viewed as "art" because a bunch of rich high class people say its art.

stripped down raw rock music with no pretenses in terms of technical ability so theoretically anyone can play it

And as I understanding Dadaism, this seems to fall in line with it. Not sure if I know enough to make a claim about any direct influence by Dadaism directly to Punk, but I could absolutely see a situation of parallel evolution.

The higher minded punx may be influenced by Dada but there’s also just a lot of dumb guys writing songs about some goth lady they have a crush on and the cool thing about punk is it’s all equally valid.

Or singing a song about abortion from the perspective of a fetus, screaming about not wanting to be aborted. :Bodies-by-the-Sex-Pistols:
