Personally, I was a left liberal for all my life, but had kinda looked into the abyss of anti-sjw and gamergate stuff, like watching Sargon and Bearing, but hadn't really subscribed to their beliefs, more putting them on as background chatter.
Things changed when I read manufacturing consent, listened to Chomsky and found Chapo at around the end of 2018, at which point I found myself as more an ancom, but Chomsky's talking points on Leninism and the USSR was never as cogent and didn't make as much sense as his other points, so I held skepticism about my beliefs then.
Reading more on theory and history, and looking more into different left tendencies via channels like Rev Left moved me over to be a Marxist, as it made the most sense to me in explaining the current and historical situation. Currently making my way through Lenin and looking more into historical ML states and I've found that I'm pretty comfortable as just a Marxist with ML tendencies rn.
Grew up pretty lib mostly. Parents were separated all my life, mainly grew up with my mom. She is fairly liberal, grew up poor, being raised by different aunts/uncles and cousins but was still ignorant on certain things for sure. Dad is pretty conservative and listened to shit talk radio all the time.
I was fairly centrist and held some lightly racists views (Canada gonna Canada). Fell into the atheist reactionary traps, followed all the favorites, primarily shoe on head and her idiot husband. In college I started questioning my sexuality and eventually decided on bi. Started seeing a guy who was pretty anti-woman and found myself agreeing with him a lot. Eventually got a job where I had to share a cubicle with a 19 year old gal. I was horrified at first as I immediately labeled her as ditzy and basic. Turns out we had a ton in common and became good friends. Helped open up my eyes and I consider that summer internship to be a pretty important moment. From there I basically challenged all my beliefs and took a deep dive into leftydom which was probably around 2015 or so. Has been a good number of years now following Majority report, MBS (Rip buddy), chapo and whatever else.
