Not really surprised given that standard language for making a horse rideable for the first time is still "horse breaking".
If you're openly admitting to dominating and "breaking" the animal in order to make it rideable something there exists to question.

One of them had a lot of social issues and was the stereotype of angry vegan, but also a massive lib. I cannot look into their mind, but I don't they had very much respect for the fruits of coerced labour, just specifically death and animal product.
Absolutely do tell them. You don't get to knowingly exploit and harm animals and call yourself vegan
