Pokemon is designed from the start to be low-creative-effort, addictive entertainment: endless stream of repetitive cute/awesome monsters and you have to "catch them all" via repetitive actions that occasionally yield a dopamine reward. You might catch a new one by - 1) watching episodes where [characters] have [adventure] in [biome], 2) walking in the grass/cave on your console, 3) buying another pack of cards or food item that comes with a pack of cards. And then you try again and again and again.
It's a neverending reusable formula. You just need to occasionally pay artists to update the graphics.
Always wondered what it's like to be one of the artists working on these cynical mobile ripoffs. I hope they at least get paid
