The whole phenomenon of Internet dipshits rubbernecking at Chris-Chan's life is one of the most depressing things in the history of online culture. There are probably kids into this pointless spectacle today who were born after the "saga" (fuck off) started.

His spinoff "It Could Happen Here" that's largely hosted by a couple other people now regularly complain about tankies to the point I felt like I was just listening to posts from r/VaushV or r/tankiejerk.

It's kind of annoying to actually live in a world where tankies don't exist, politically speaking, but 99% of the ranty-complainyness targets them. I guess I should pass on that series then.

The first set of episodes where Evan's is narrating what societal collapse would like is fine. They changed the format to broader discussions after that and it was fine for a while until it became apparent Garrison spends a shit load of time on reddit.

I only listened to the first "season" where Evan's using real world experiences to talk about a collapse in the US. It was haunting, but good.

Saw later it was getting more episodes and I wondered what it'd even been be about, disaster porn? Seemed like just trying to get more money off what was apparently a successful project. Like forcing a sequel.

How the hell are tankies even part of the focus? Disagree with them, ok, but they're not a big force now ( 😞 ) so why bother and in a collapse scenario, you're just preemptively creating enemies on the left who will almost certainly be doing their damnedest to help the worst affected and organize resistance to the actual horrors outlined in the first episodes? Fuuuuuck off, at least wait to shit on them till we're in the shit and people have to contend with some tankie formation existing and building power.

There are no communists in China. They’re all brainwashed to say they’re communist. Only capitalists can voluntarily say they like capitalism

He literally is an employee of bellingcat, which gets its funding from NED (CIA cut-out for funding color revolutions and US-aligned NGOs)

He’s US state sponsored media. There should be a disclaimer on all his work that it is funded in whole or in part by the CIA.

Yeah, but these people would tell scary stories about tankies while holding flashlights under their chins for free, unprompted

The synthetic left was created and is sustained by US funds. There are of course idiots who have no idea what is going on and follow along with the choir, but the conductors are paid

It’s not meaningless, it speaks to the very real phenomena of US-friendly westoid leftism, filled with chauvinists and imperialists. Just because some cringe fringe weirdos used it doesn’t make it false

Mate and Norton from Grayzone use it frequently

All of Breadtube is part of this synthetic left, not just the more egregious examples like Robert Fedvans and Voosh

Mate is still at Grayzone and doing good work. Blumenthal is the one who “went off the deep end” allegedly, but this is overstated. He just has a different opinion than people here on Covid policies within the west (he never was against Chinese style lockdowns). He’s still more based than every breadtuber

Norton is based and uses the term. As do people like Luna Oi, Hakim, Carl Zha, Caitlin Johnston, Moon of Alabama and pretty much every cool and good commentator on the left.

To clarify I’m not saying that the entirety of breadtube is CIA funded (although there are prominent examples). I’m saying that the entirety of the loose ideological cultural grouping who self-identify as “breadtube” and move in those circles are part of the choir. They are almost all imperialists and somewhat anti-communist.

Hbomberguy says he doesn’t support the USSR and supports a bombing campaign on DPRK. PhilosophyTube shits on actually existing socialism. Many of them repeat pro-Hong Kong protester narratives, or Uighur genocide narratives, or pro-Ukrainian narratives.
