People are going to yell at me and say "This makes perfect sense! Biden is such a disappointment!" But in policy terms, it simply doesn't add up, because no matter how annoyed young progressives are about student debt or anything else, Trump was dramatically worse.

We are looking at a mind that is completely incomprehensible and alien to us. Send in the science team to figure out what kind of fucked up assumptions it has made for this to make sense to it!

By what fucking metric??? I genuinely wanted Biden to be better than Trump, I thought the main problem with Biden would be a whiplash back to the right after him. But he has been demonstrably worse than Trump even in the short term. His covid response has been worse, and more deaths have happened under him even with the vaccine. He gave me less money than Trump. He’s literally not doing a single fucking thing about any of the number of crises actively happening.

Voting for Trump in 2020 was harm reduction, and saying that makes me want to shoot myself.

lol. One of his first acts as president was to negotiate down a stimulus payment he promised people.

Lol that thread. Such a mystery why old democrats like Biden better than young democrats. Policy can't explain it! It must be a social media echo chamber!

Like, what does an echo chamber even mean? Young people go on social media and they say "damn Biden sucks" and all their peers agree with them. But that's not a genuine sentiment, that's an echo chamber.

“That's right: group consensus forms completely randomly with no basis in material reality. If people don't like Biden it's because he got an unlucky bounce in the echo chamber plinko machine. Excellent analysis”

The youth never liked Biden, goddamn, why are we in trouble for being consistent?

What a fucking nerd lol. The people in his comments have done a great job explaining it, and he's like "Actually, material conditions have no effect on politics!"

The twitter thread is hilarious. OP is really upset that The Youth have an accurate view of Biden's achievements and despise the bastard unreservedly. "OH no they're in an echo chamber! Echo chamber! Eccchoooo Chammmmber!"

No, dude. Biden has done nothing of value when hard core open fascism is bearing down on us.

      There's also this..

It's really time to give up the desperate, sweaty attempts to salvage "material interests" from the tidal wave of evidence that it just really doesn't affect day-to-day politics. At some point just accept that it was a nice idea that is wrong

I think it's fascinating that he says it's vital to look at political situations without blinders. Yet - he simply can never deviate from his take that voters get all their opinions from social media and the teevee. Also he seems entirely unable to look at anything through the eyes of other people.

If you're a young American and you want hope - for example at least some of following - greater equality, greater equity, less income inequality, democracy to continue, you don't want fascism, you don't want people to have their rights taken away one after another, and - of course - you want and demand a livable climate in the following decades and beyond that - what is Biden providing you with? Fucking nothing. In fact - it's clear Biden only cares about economic stats and data.

His covid response is proof of that. Young people are only cogs in the economic machine. Biden has only shown the young disrespect. He doesn't even pretend to give a fuck. And the fucker won't even cancel student loaners in a sane non-mean tested way or legalize cannibis. His entire shtick to young people is - vote for democrats becuase the GOP is worse. Hardly inspiring.

This fucking guy. Once again, blame the voters for not praying to the DNC gods and Biden hard enough.

"He hasn't lost as much support with older voters."

I wonder why when all he had to do was protect their wealth. I don't know why people that are this clueless even follow politics. Do they just like being wrong and confused all the time?

    "It doesn't make any sense..."

    That's because your a lib.

Sometimes Twitter is like a little village. If you live there - from just a few words you know what's actually being discussed and what the speaker means. The thread I linked to is fairly obscure. And the guy who tweeted it - Will Stancil - only has 33k followers. Yet this tweet with no context (in parens for some reason) seems to be a criticism...

(20 tweet thread about how young people only dislike Biden because of TikTok)

how can you not figure this out? right wing youths liked trump, left wing youths didn't. right wing youths don't like biden, and neither do left wing youths. trump pleased his base. biden pleases nobody but people with some kind of weird lanyard version of CTE
