Random thought of the day: Wouldn't it be cool if something like Magic The Gathering was an open source thing where it was just accepted that anyone could make their own sets?
I imagine every card being tagged with the studio that created it, where "studio" is just a group of people willing to vouch for a collection of cards. So you'd be able to decide what cards you're going to put up with on a studio by studio basis instead of a card by card basis. Which means if you want to play with weird bullshit overpowered cards with your friends you're welcome to, but tournaments are mostly going to restrict things to a set of studios that have shown some restraint.
