I can't remember the country or find the thread now. I remember that the US and that country have some agreement, so it's easier for Americans to immigrate to. The Netherlands maybe? Could use some of you gumshoes to help me find the thread.

not the thread, but here is info about the Dutch-American Friendship Treaty
basically you need to have $6500, most of which is an investment which you should be able to get back (see Shoegazer's comment for additional info)
It’s not that simple. You also need to be a freelancer and can’t get a normal job in the country. Though you can get a citizenship after 5 years and at that point I think you can do whatever
In other words, you’ll have to draw furry porn with a consistent stream of clients for 5 years all while making enough to pay rent, buy food, and still have a certain amount in the bank in order to stay
Well shit...thanks for the info :society:
honestly seems pretty good compared to something like the Portuguese golden visa where the minimum investment is $300,000
As far as I know you can get permanent residence in Spain if you have a monthly income of $2,000, also there are a lot of Latin American countries or Asian countries where that number is more like $1,000. Lots of retired folks make moves to these countries where a social security or pension check goes farther than in US.
For Spain's retirement visa, the one you're mentioning (Non-Lucrative Visa), the income can't come from employment. It has to be passive income.
Ah that’s good to know. I looked into itbecause I’ve got a permanent disability check which could qualify me for a lot of these types of programs that various countries have.
Not sure if you've looked into this but a lot of countries require you to declare any disabilities or illnesses you might have and will deny you on that basis.
Turns out anti-discrimination isn't a thing for visas.
