There must be some type of large scale lobotomization programs under way.

Edit: grilling and drinking and hanging with friends is not celebrating the holiday, it's just having a party.

Celebrating the 4th of July means like the lib bougie civic-minded patriots who buy little flags and wave them and shit and think about how great america is (these are the zombies I was talking about: the nerd ass people who are still generically patriotic but not fash/chuds in this current political environment). Then there are the fash/chuds who celebrate it because "murica #1" and "we kill the most people" and "we just outlawed roe vs wade" etc etc.

Not even, I'm just not celebrating the fourth. It's pretty easy

Oof I didn't realize you were being serious. Imagine believing grilling in your backyard with your friends is somehow problematic because of the date on the calendar

Of course I'm being serious. Death to America doesn't mean "Death to America in ways that are convenient to me. This is a nationalist day celebrating a country that destroys countless lives overseas and within its border. I'm not going to sit at home and do nothing this weekend. I'll spend time with friends, none of whom celebrate the this toxic holiday

none of my friends are celebrating the holiday either. It's just an excuse to get together and drink in the sunshine. It's not like I'm gonna be hanging American flags everywhere and making people recite the pledge of allegiance, it's not all that deep

Don't know why you're trying to moralize about hanging out with your friends but whatever makes you feel good I guess

As someone who had nothing to do with this discussion until now, I really don't get what your point is. Is this a bit? Because it seems to me like you're both on the same page (and are planning similar activities, even), and yet you started this thread by saying he celebrates the fourth

That's really not what I'm saying. I think a lot of people took this thread very seriously and felt called out, but nobody is talking about not spending time with friends (ncluding me!). Im saying avoid nationalist celebrations and events

I think some people should self crit as to why they felt so strongly called out by OP's post

yeah people really didn't get it. celebrating the holiday means being a patriotic little worm. not grilling or whatever the fuck, that's just having a party.
