Me and another commenter were talking about it. Hexbear is a druggy place, and there is a lot of discussion about drugs in the comments. Having a straight drug comm would be fun, but there are legal issues that come with that. However, a community more based around harm reduction would have less legal issues. I know quite a bit about drugs, and would be a pretty good person to mod the comm, hence why I'm requesting it. If we ban souring and stash pics, that covers a lot of the legality issues. I think having a place to centralize this discussion would be really good for people on Hexbear struggling with drug use.

Not a bad idea tbh. It would definitely need to explicitly ban any marketplace sort of discussions (buying/selling/where to find/how to make/grow) otherwise Hexbear would become an immediate target.

If hexbear is going to create a community specifically for drug use, it should also include alcohol/tobacco and all discussion about drugs/alcohol/tobacco should be kept in that one community. The community shouldn’t be anti-drugs in any way but it also shouldn’t be encouraging anyone to shoot ketamine into their eyeballs either. I see what this site does with animal products, maybe you should do that and nsfw it so people have to look for it and not just stumble upon it. Also harm reduction is a terrible name, are you trying to make the leftist equivalent of a 12 step program? Call it drugs. Simple.

With a clear and well enforced rule set we are willing to consider this community if you are interested then I will ask you to fill out a short mod questionnaire via hexbear DM or matrix DM.

    Application

What is your Hexbear username? Do you have any preferred pronouns? What are your thoughts on capitalism? What are your thoughts on imperialism? What are your thoughts on trans rights? What are your thoughts on racial justice? What do think about current and previous protests around the world? What are your thoughts on Veganism and Animal Liberation? Do you have any experience with other leftist online communities? What did those experiences teach you? What is your approach to moderation, and how do you work with teams? How do you deal with online drama and people who try to start things for the sake of it? What current comms would you be interested in moderating? Do you have any ideas for community engagement? What is your general time availability? (Time zone, amounts, common browsing times, etc)

    Element information

Element is a messaging app that lets you talk to people over the Matrix protocol. To get started, check out this link, where you can choose to either download Element for your platform or, if on a computer, open it in a browser ("Launch Element Web"). The instructions that follow are for the desktop application and the web application, but the process is similar on all apps: Press "Create Account" We host our own Matrix server, so if you want you can change matrix.org to chapo.chat. This is completely optional; users who sign up with a matrix.org username can still talk to people with chapo.chat username. (Note: It is chapo.chat, not hexbear.net. Also, registrations aren't always open on chapo.chat; if they're not, just create an account on matrix.org) Fill in a username and password Hit register, and you're done!
