Haven't had French toast in years. Used to do Alton Brown's method. Anybody got a good vegan recipe?

e: I'm looking for recipes you yourself have actually tried. I don't want to waste food experimenting with substitutes.

Bobs red mill makes a vegan egg replacement (potato starch, tapioca flour, baking soda, and psyllium husk fiber) that's good for stuff like that

Black salt will help a lot with eggy flavor

ok i watched Alton here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4frrEw_AL8

Yeah you can get pretty close to that subbing nut/soy/oat milk, an egg replacer, agave if you dont do honey, and sub some of the salt for black, vegan margarine or one of those vegan 'butter' sticks for the pan

I’m sure it’s as simple as swapping the egg for that chickpea juice. I think the ratio is like 2 tbsp per egg

I doubt this, there's a lot of egg in French toast batter and you'd get a weird beany taste. I am looking for a known-good recipe.

Never thought about vegan French toast before. Just some quick googling came up with whole fat milk and cornstarch as an egg replacer.

So I'd imagine that any fatty milk alternative, coconut milk (maybe) or soymilk, with cornstarch mixed in slowly to get to a correct consistency would be a pretty solid way to go. I bet, if you can get a small can of coconut cream (Asian food section in US stores), add just enough water to make it runny and then add cornstarch to thicken it up, would be pretty damn awesome.
