Looked up zoolander 2 for reasons and it "only" made $57 million at the box office on a budget of $50 million. That's a 14% profit and everybody involved in making the damn movie already got paid, like damn what a flop

    I think some marketing costs aren't actually included in the budget number, so the actual cost of the movie is usually higher

      Yeah the general rule is that the actual cost of movies is double the reported budget because advertising isn't added into the budget. So $57 million is actually a loss since the studio probably spent $100 million all told.
