I think there's something about Mormonism that stunts people emotionally and intellectually. Orson Scott Card*, Brandon Sanderson, Stephanie Meyer, David Farland, they all have this ... simplicity and juveinility to their characterizations of people and relationships. It's hard to put my finger on.
ok I will admit OSC has written a couple brilliant works but I believe he accidentally struck gold with those based on how dogshit and pathetic most of his books are.
