ive been told every time that i even offer light pushback on criticsm against socialist countries in the global south that these are imperialist countries that commit atrocities and im being a total hypocrite by 'supporting' them and that most socialists in global south actually oppose and hate these countries.

They like to point at the few groups that do but the overwhelming majority support them. Maoists are typically the biggest sect in the GS that hate China and other states
Yeah I know the Maoist’s in the Philippines do not like China I suppose for legitimate reasons. But I do feel like libs are only using them to feel justified in “China bad” discourse. I guess I wanted to come here for a more nuanced and honest answer. Thanks.

It's a good reminder that states are a double edged sword. They can help protect you, but they work on their own logic independent from "what does the movement need right now?"

The reality of the situation is that it's pretty much just the white western "left" that says this shit. And then within the white radlibs you have people making the claim that the global south are all against these AES Actually Existing Socialist countries.
This left are against everything that actually exists and only seem to support anything that failed. My opinion is that they're liberal virture-signalling culture translated leftwards. They are only interested in signalling their purity and goodness rather than actually supporting anything or achieving anything. They wear the left for aesthetics but not anything that might possibly even remotely result in dirtying themselves.
