    I really think it being a one syllable quip helped it become the go to buzzword. Woke as it's used now was first popularized by black people primarily, a lot of the push against 'woke' comes from white nationalists (who are ultimately driving most right-wing discourse today) and they love co-opting any term possible.

      The one syllable thing is why I also think it's caught on. SJW was the previous word and it's largely dead. Too complicated of an acronym and too direct. "Social justice warrior" sounds too cool.
