Anecdotally, it seems to me the GOP is picking up some voters simply because they're seen as the "winners" who are at least "getting things done". This is mostly from white folks who have completely incoherent ideologies; and who are generally tuned out to politics in general.
It's like, even if the GOP is just getting awful things done... people like winners. If you don't actually care about anything, it might seem like the GOP is "tough" and getting their way, while Dems do nothing but whine and capitulate.
There's definitely a type of liberal which is obsessed with the idea of "getting things done" , with no regard to what those things actually are. That's one of the reasons so many of them like the West Wing, with a liberal lion who "gets things done" like dismantling social security :isaac-pog:
It was, it’s one of his things that’s stuck with me the most, I feel like it’s a very accurate description of a lot of how American voters think and the parties act.

The “don’t be an asshole 🥺” party vs the “don’t be a pussy 👹” party. I can’t say I don’t understand why people would pick don’t be a pussy
Dicks, pussies, and assholes
I've seen this analogy before, but I can't remember from where. Was this a Matt Christman thing?
Yeah, back in the Voteball: Origins days of the CushVlog streams

the trains aren't actually running on time, but LOOK HOW MANY OF THEM THERE ARE, nevermind where they're going or what they're carrying.
fuck that's depressing. at least the old german nazis didn't hate trains. or want the literal apocalypse.
Nazis actually defunded Reichbahn and put those money into road construction.
oh. did not know that. yet another thing to hate them for.
