a bunch of suburban kids who are removed from the realities of either revolution or reaction - they aren't affected by police brutality or poverty and won't be targeted by fash, so neither seem real in the day-to-day. on top of that, they were the "well, let's look at it from both sides" kids in high school. lastly, the popular notion that people who are loud or vocal about topics are seen as loonies and care more about optics and propaganda than facts seals the deal that centrism = ackshually the only ideology that makes sense.
