Did you verify in an incognito tab or on another account because they could have just blocked you

If you log out and look at their user page you'll know for sure though, I just use an incognito tab for that
im like 80% sure it doesnt show up as deleted, at least not in Relay. Usually you just cant respond because itll say "something went wrong" and then you'll get "user not found" if you click their username but itll still show their name on the comments

Doxxing is about connecting an account to an ID. Perhaps they don't want what they said on Reddit connected to their real name, so they delete the account.
Obviously this doesn't take archival into account
