Why are all these former colonies of my empire filled with swarms of perverts obsessed with “liberation” kink? Extremely distasteful

“Sovereignty fetish” is a talking point that surprisingly shows up in a number of chauvinist cope pieces around any country that doesn’t immediately bow to the interests of the imperial core.

It might have something to do with the 2 Opium Wars in 1840 and 1856, the Eight-Nation Alliance invasion in 1900, and the 27 concessions since 1845.

If the colonizers are sincerely confused as to why the formerly colonized have a “fetish for sovereignty”, they can start there.

and the 27 concessions since 1845

Especially this. Westerners, including leftists, never seem to think about this or connect it to Hong Kong and Taiwan today.

i took it to mean in their dealings with other countries, i.e. keeping their partners sovereign rather than destroying the sovereignty of their neighbors like the US did, but OP is a :LIB: and didn't post the link so who knows

Also westoids: Gee, why are these Chinese weirdos so worked up about their sovereignty?

This sounds like the kind of question a history teacher could ask me that would prompt me to give a based as hell answer.

My brother in Christ you literally base the entire notion of the modern western state solely on the concept of Westphalian Sovereignty.
