Big shout out to whoever it was that turned in 62 3D printed guns for $150 each at a Houston gun buy-back pic.twitter.com/QYUNxG0Jg6— Xaniken (@Xaniken) July 31, 2022
Making guns to turn a profit from people who want there to be less guns. I wish I could get in on that.
I love guns like the next ML but I think gun buybacks are honestly one of the few good things prosecutors and cops do in my neighborhood. Too many kids end up with guns around me and when their parents find them, they stash them where they’ll inevitably be found again and potentially used. Buybacks help them offload these guns without any questions, which is huge for parents of Black kids terrified of police catching their sons with guns and locking them up.
Thing is cops usually eventually resell the guns. I was on an auction page a few months ago and some department was selling used flocks that were confiscated in a raid lol. But the short term yeah it’s good. Plus only people who don’t want the guns will be selling them back anyway.

They can't do that with the 3d printed guns though - they can't be transferred legally to a new owner.
Unfortunately they're terrified of much worse than that.
