Your servant here, he has been told

To say it clear, to say it cold

It's over, it ain't going any further

And now the wheels of heaven stop

You feel the devil's riding crop

Get ready for the future: It is murder

If you haven't read The Grapes of Wrath, I very much recommend it. It's essentially about one of many families that are forced off their farm by the banks and travel out to California looking for work. Ain't a damn thing changed, still the fuck the cops.

Robots are simply the next logical step of automation. There is nothing unique about their impact that hasn't occurred in prior centuries - just the further replacement of variable capital with constant capital

I'm just gonna get back to my playthrough of Where the Water Tastes Like Wine and assume it's roughly the same.

i like how they say "a california city" like, san jose is populous, expanding, and crazy expensive. also the THIRD BIGGEST CITY (by population) in california. doesn't get the respect it deserves as it is basically south bay now.

I know right? It's literally the biggest city in the bay area. Its like if you said "a Pennsylvania city" when talking about Pittsburgh.

“We’re not detecting folks,” Tawfik said. “We’re detecting encampments. So the interest is not identifying people because that will be a violation of privacy.” However, in its report identifying lived-in vehicles, Sensen.AI wrote that its system included optical character recognition of the vehicles’ license plate numbers.

Folks, famously unconnected to places they live or vehicles registered in their name

I'm not kicking Tawfik in the nuts, I'm kicking the jeans he is wearing. So the interest is not kicking Tawfik's nuts because that would be assault.

seems nefarious with pictures and gps coordinates

    Show

other cities use unpaid labour to take a census without precise data to get an idea of areas/amount of need, this could be techbros trying to take a pre-existing public program and make a worse bazinga alternative that also allows for sharing data with cops to harass people
