This just pisses me off so much for some reason. Its also probably connected to that post yesterday trying to normalize hunger on Terf Island.

The absolute last thing I ever want to do is to defend fucking monarchs, but what's wrong with eating simply even if you had access to basically any food imaginable? It wouldn't be my immediate preference in the same situation but if someone wants to eat a PBJ every day for almost a century then what's the problem?
I'm not saying it's, like, morally wrong. There's no problem here exactly, and the issue isn't with the simplicity of this dish's preparation. I just think it takes a frankly uncanny level of active and persistent joylessness to accept jam on bread for lunch every day of your life when the only thing it would take to have literally anything else would be to ask for it. Idk I guess food is just important to me because making, testing, and trying new dishes really helps me with my depression and seeing someone completely reject variety and novelty like that gets under my skin. It's like meeting someone who grew up in Narnia then came to the real world because their dream was to become a data entry clerk
wait a minute, that's not even a PBJ, there's no peanut butter
okay fine, this is a bit deranged but my point still stands
